Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says that the violence, looting, and destruction seen in parts of South Africa in July destroyed investor confidence and battered our economic prospects.
Godongwana made the remarks during his Medium-Term Budget statement on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Godongwana says that the Covid-19 pandemic is a crisis like no other.
He says the impact of the pandemic will be long-lasting.
