Clover workers to down tools on Monday─── 08:07 Sun, 21 Nov 2021
Food and beverages company Clover is the latest to face strike action over working conditions and retrenchments.
The General Industries Workers Union of South Africa (GIWUSA) says more than 5,000 workers will down tools on Monday.
The strike action is supported by the Food and Allied Workers Union and SAFTU.
They say the company's restructuring of working times, unfairly affects workers who are already earning low wages.
According to the unions, Clover plans to retrench close to 1,500 workers.
Unions say the company wants to save R300 million in costs to please international investors at the expense of workers.
