OFM News previously reported that Police Minister, Bheki Cele, on Friday presented the crime figures for cases reported to the police between July 2021 and September.

Cele says the majority of kidnappings were hijacking related, followed by kidnappings which were robbery and rape-related.

Furthermore Cele says out of 620 cases, 52 kidnapping cases were ransom-related.

Most occurred in Gauteng.

He says seven kidnappings were as a result of human trafficking.

"Certainly more can and will be done to ensure that South Africans are and feel safe."
