This is according to the N3 Toll Concession on Friday afternoon. 

Traffic on this part of the N3 heading to KwaZulu-Natal and from the Free State became obstructed in the early hours of Friday morning. 

Footage from local helicopters/aircraft show vehicles lined up in a snake fashion, seemingly for tens of kilometres.

 According to reports, the cause of the demonstration is the absence of feedback on the employment of foreign nationals in the South African logistics and trucking industry.

Following demonstrations on the N3 and N9 in late October, the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, and the Minister of Employment and Labour, Thulas Nxesi, vowed that feedback from a task team would be given to the local drivers on this years-long issue. 

Motorists heading in that direction are being redirected to alternate routes by traffic and law enforcement officials in the area. 

It comes as the South African government has vowed to introduce policy changes pertaining to border access controls and tighter regulations for foreign drivers to work in South Africa.
