Stats SA to review unemployment figures─── 11:50 Tue, 10 May 2022
Stats SA says unemployment figures need to be reviewed.
It blames this on declining survey response rates.
The agency warns the latest unemployment figures published for the fourth quarter of 2021 could be wrong.
Figures claim the unemployment rate stands at a record 35.3 percent.
"Having done some quality checks we made a decision not to publish the metro estimates but only publish the national and provincial figures because of the quality concerns," said Stats SA’s Chief Director of Labour Malerato Mosiane.
"This was mainly in relation to the response rates that had been declining over time."
