The South African Weather Service has warned of possible wildfires in the central parts of the Northern Cape and extreme parts of the Eastern Cape.

An intense cold front was expected to make landfall in the Western Cape on Sunday night.

Forecaster Ishmeal Moyo says disruptive rainfall is expected to fall in the south western parts of the Western Cape from Monday.

"In terms of disruptive rainfall that is expected over the south-western parts of the Western Cape from tomorrow and the 14th, and may continue to the 15th , but we are seeing a clearance from the 15th over the south-western parts."

A drop in temperature is expected from Thursday in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, Mpumalanga and the North West.

KwaZulu-Natal can expect isolated showers and rain from Wednesday.
