The country is caught in the grips of an icy cold front.

The cold temperatures are expected to last well into next week.

Kgolofelo Mahlangu from the Weather Service explained why you've got the shivers.

Mahlangu said, "we have a cold front that's currently sitting over the coast of KZN there by the south of Durban and extending into the south of Lesotho so that is what's causing the drop in temperatures".

"However, a couple of days back there was another cold front that went past and dropped temperatures over the rest of the country."

"So currently, the cold front will be dropping temperatures over the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape and the southern part of KZN and also bringing some snowfall over the high ground there in the Eastern Cape."
