Tributes are pouring in following the death of South African musician Dennis East at the age of 73.
The Durban-born artist's passing was confirmed by the South African Legends Museum.
East, who suffered a stroke on Friday afternoon, began his career in numerous bands in the 1960s and the early 1970s before becoming a well-known musician and songwriter.
Before going solo, he was a member of The Statesmen, Dialogue, The Rising Sons, and Hunky Dory.
In 1973, he released his debut single, "Could you ever love me again".
With "A rose has to die," East had his first chart triumph in 1974.
He founded the band "Stringray" in 1978, and their song "Better the devil you know" returned to the top.
