SACP challenges ANC to end load-shedding─── 05:49 Mon, 09 Jan 2023
The South African Communist Party's Solly Mapaila has challenged the African National Congress to put an end to ongoing power cuts.
Mapaila made this call at the party's 111th anniversary celebration in Mangaung in the Free State.
At the same event, ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa said that ending blackouts and solving the energy crisis are among the party's top priorities.
Addressing thousands of ANC supporters at the party's 111th anniversary celebrations, Ramaphosa vowed to ensure additional megawatts would be added to the strained electricity grid.
He also called on the power utility to work around the clock to tighten operations, clean up the state-owned company, and secure strong leadership at the helm.
This is as South Africa continues to seesaw between stage three and stage four load-shedding.
Ramaphosa has also conceded that load-shedding is harming the country's economic growth.
