Bloemfontein - Free State Stars have parted ways with midfielder, Anver Esterhuizen, amongst others, following the disappointing 2013/14 Premier Soccer League season the club endured, spokesperson, Lebohang Maketa confirmed.

Other departing players are goalkeeper Tshepo Motsoeneng, Mongezi Bobe, Mthokosizi Yende and Mbuyiselo Sambu.

“Unfortunately the coach and the technical team did not pick up anything from the released players, in terms of going forward,” he told OFM Sport.

“The assessment was done during the season and the decision was made,” Maketa added.

Jurie Basie, Enva Wiltwer, and Salmaan King are also no longer on the club's books.

Meanwhile, Luyolo Nomandela, who has signed a three-year pre-contract with the league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, in January, will join the Pretoria side in June.

Maketa also highlighted that defender, Sadate Ouro Akoriko, whose contract with the side expires in June, has joined AmaZulu.

It was reported that the hard-marking defender had signed a pre-contract with Amazulu following the Ea Lla Koto’s decision not to renew his stay.

“What I know is, and this has also been confirmed by my boss, he is likely to join AmaZulu. He signed a pre-contract with them, knowing well that we were not willing to extend his stay,” Maketa said.

“As far as his contract is concerned, it comes to an end in June, so based on that, he searched for the job and got the job at Amazulu,” he added.

“You can sign a pre-contract while still contracted to your club. However, a pre-contract is not an actual contract. The player might turn it down, so can the team, but as far as I know, he signed a pre-contract with Amazulu,” he concluded.
