The event replaces the cancelled Cape Town Series which is traditionally the second stop on the series.

Last week’s season opener was played behind closed doors, but this week the stadium will open up to welcome 100 000 spectators during the course of the weekend.

The defending champions, the Springbok Sevens were ruthless in their execution to beat the USA 42-7 in the final on Saturday.

The Blitzboks captain, Siviwe Soyizwapi, says there is always room for improvement.

“There is always room for improvement. No one is perfect and we definitely weren't perfect coming into this week.

“Even though the final looked so crisp, we did let in a try and there were some defensive lapses within the game.

“It's never a perfect game, but we'll come back next week.

“We peaked in the final and we will have to carry that over into the next week.”

The draw for this week is yet to be made.
