Lady Gaga wins Oscar for Best Original Song | News Article

Co-written by Mark Ronson, Gaga's song Shallow with Bradley Cooper reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

Lady Gaga has won an Oscar in the Best Original Song category for Shallow.

Gaga's collaboration with Bradley Cooper from A Star Is Born took home the coveted award at the 91st annual Academy Awards. The duo performed the song in an electrifying performance earlier in the night.

Taking to the stage with the song's co-writers Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt, Gaga gave an emotional speech about hard work: "If you have a dream, fight for it. It’s not about how many times you get rejected, or you fall down, or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going."

Shallow took home the award in a strong category that also featured Kendrick Lamar & Sza's All The Stars from Black Panther, The Place Where Lost Things Go from Mary Poppins, When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and the Diane Warren-penned I'll Flight from RBG.

Previous winners in the Best Original Song category include Adele, Sam Smith and John Legend.

A Star Is Born was nominated in another seven categories at the 2019 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Lady Gaga was also nominated in the Best Actress category, losing out to Olivia Coleman.
