Bloemfontein. – The long-awaited PSL-clash between Bloemfontein Celtic and Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs was cancelled here at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium due to water-logged, moments before it was scheduled to start.

The matched will now be played on Wednesday at 19h30 at Seisa, should the pitch be in a condition to be played on. Bloemfontein has had a lot of rain the past two weeks, and it never looked like match would take place this afternoon.

Celtic communication manager Petros Augusti told OFM Sport, the teams never had say on whether the match would be cancelled.

“The decision was up to the referee, and not even the match commissioner had a say, neither did the Premier Soccer League. The decision was made right at the last minute, as the pitch was too water-logged.

“They said the match would go ahead if it stopped raining, but unfortunately it started raining again,” Augusti said.

“It’s going to a cause problems with a lot of the supporters having thrown away their ticket stubs, but Celtic management will have to sit down and come up with a solution,” he added.

More rain has been forecasted for the area, and it could be that the match will have to be moved to either Vodacom Park or the Botshabelo Stadium, but Celtic would want to build on their unbeaten eight home matches at Seisa Ramabodu.
