Clean-up campaign ‘not a publicity stunt’─── 16:00 Tue, 12 Mar 2019

The mayoral spokesperson for the Emfuleni Local Municipality in the Sedibeng district, Lebo Mofokeng, says areas not cleaned during the clean-up campaign will be reached as part of the municipality’s 90 days to rotate the areas of Emfuleni.
This was explained after some residents in the municipal area complained about their areas being excluded during the Keep The Vaal Clean campaign, which was spearheaded by ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule two weeks ago.
Areas which were not attended to include Sebokeng Hostel, areas around Moshweshwe Road which connects all the townships of Sebokeng, Evaton, and Orange Farm. The campaign has left the residents with mixed feelings as some view this as a way the ruling party win votes as we’re counting down to the 2019 election on 8 May.
Mofokeng says the cleaning campaign was started on 31 November 2017 and the municipality is not cleaning as a publicity stunt to get attention from concerned residents. She encourages people not to burn non-hazardous waste to avoid further polluting the environment. Mofokeng explains.
