NC officials claim victory against struggling municipality─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:00 Wed, 18 Aug 2021

Two Northern Cape accounting officers are expected to be reinstated in their positions following a court victory against the troubled Kimberley-based Sol Plaatje Local Municipality.
The municipality’s chief financial officer, Lydia Mahloko, and municipal manager, Goolam Akharwaray, won their court case on Monday in the Northern Cape High Court.
Their court victory means that they should report for duty at their respective positions on Monday 23 August 2021.
The Office of the Mayor, Solomon Mabilo, has released a statement in which it indicates that the council on Wednesday has resolved that the mayor should notify the two to report for duty on Monday.
OFM News understands that the two were suspended with the intention of being investigated following claims of wasteful expenditure, amongst others, during the tenure of former mayor Mangaliso Matika in 2018.
The Office of the Mayor, in a statement, says “at a special council meeting on 18 August 2021, Council resolved that the Executive Mayor should notify the two officials to report for duty in their respective positions on Monday 23 August 2021”.
