Investigation launched after Sparta ammonia leak─── DANE DANE 10:14 Sat, 06 Jun 2015
Welkom - Twenty-five of 27 Sparta Foods employees who were admitted to Mediclinic Welkom yesterday, for ammonia inhalation, have been discharged.
Mediclinic spokesperson Marissa Pawson says only two employees remain hospitalised for observation – a pregnant woman and an older man who collapsed at the scene.
The incident occurred yesterday just after 18:00.
While it is known that a pipe burst, Sparta’s Niel Venter says an investigation into the exact cause of the accident has been launched.
Seven workers were admitted to the St. Helena hospital in the city by emergency services.
