No disruptions during Free State SOPA | News Article

Bloemfontein - All political parties in the Free State Legislature have agreed that there will be no questions or points of order raised during the State of the Province Address (SOPA) next week.

This follows after opposition parties in Parliament disrupted the State of the Nation Address last week leading to the forcible removal of Economic Freedom Fighters MPs and a walkout by the entire DA caucus.

Acting speaker of the Free State Legislature, Sizwe Mbalo, says all parties in the House met on Wednesday and an agreement was reached that there will be no disruptions.

He says in the event of any disruption despite the agreement, the speaker will make a ruling and in extreme cases the member or members will be removed from the House.

The State of the Province Address, which marks the official opening of the Legislature, is taking place at the South Campus of the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein on February 24.
