Minister launches Mzansi Libraries Online Project in Sasolburg─── 07:45 Fri, 08 May 2015
Sasolburg - Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Rejoice Mabudafhasi has launched the Mzansi Libraries Online Pilot Project at Zamdela public library in Sasolburg in the Free State.
Mabudafhasi says the aim of the initiative is to provide free Internet connectivity for all South Africans through public libraries, and thereby create literate societies.
She explained that through the project, public libraries will also have library committees, which will organise reading activities to educate people about the importance of reading.
Mabudafhasi added that three public libraries in all provinces will receive 20 computers, 10 tablets, and 10 e-readers, amongst other things, to the tune of R470 000. The project is set to run for two years, with a R32 million budget.
