Much loved singer and songwriter Lucas Maree dies─── 08:55 Sat, 19 Feb 2011
Bloemfontein - Well-known Afrikaans singer and song writer Lucas Maree died last night after a two-year struggle with prostate cancer. Maree was 58 years old. Many South African performers have already posted messages on various social networks of support and sympathy. News24 reports that Maree died at the Hill & Dale care center in Bloemfontein. He was treated at the center after being discharged from the Life Rosepark hospital earlier this month. He was admitted to the hospital shortly before Christmas due to kidney failure. He is survived by his wife Ilse, and daughters Monica, Linda and Carla.
