Violin, cello and piano shine in Chamber Conversations trio at NWU─── 09:00 Thu, 24 Jul 2025

Dr Andrew Warburton joins Yolanda Maartens in the OFM Art Beat to share his excitement regarding the programme they are presenting during the 2025 NWU Concert Series.
The eThekwini Piano Trio was formed in February 2024 by Andrew Warburton, and they are looking forward to sharing their passion for music with Potchefstroom. ‘Chamber Conversations’ takes place on the 12th of August at the NG Church Vyfhoek, while the conservatorium is undergoing upgrades.
The eThekwini Piano Trio was formed specifically to perform Beethoven’s “Archduke” Trio, which took place on the UKZN campus in June 2024. The two string players are members of the KZNPO: Evgeny is an acclaimed Russian violinist and a graduate of the legendary Moscow Conservatoire.
He held many prestigious concertmaster positions in Russian orchestras. He is Associate Concertmaster of the KZN Philharmonic orchestra, having been appointed in February 2024, and Ayanda is a member of the cello section, having moved up the ranks from his years serving as a cadet player.
Andrew Warburton is one of South Africa’s most highly regarded solo pianists and chamber musicians, who has been performing throughout the country and abroad since 1982.
