Free State Symphony Orchestra presents 3 African premieres with ‘East meets West’─── 09:00 Thu, 02 Oct 2025

The Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO) proudly presents its “East Meets West” concert on Saturday, 18 October, at 19:30 in the Odeion Auditorium, Bloemfontein, conducted by acclaimed Taiwanese maestro Ho Chung Yeh.
Sharon de Kock, Concert Master for the evening, joins Yolanda Maartens on OFM’s Art Beat to introduce audiences to the acclaimed conductor.
She also shares information about the two soloists of the night and their instruments.
Luzanne Eigelaar from the FSSO shares the ticket information and invites the Taiwanese community of the Free State to come support this night of premieres, classical works and contemporary treasures.
The programme offers a rich blend of classical works and contemporary treasures, featuring timeless favourites and three African premieres.
Renowned Taiwanese soloist Hui Chiu (Chinese bamboo flutes) and South African flautist Handri Loots join the orchestra for this remarkable occasion, bridging cultures and traditions through music.
