Free State Youth Orchestra ready to soar under conductor Dingaan Chabalala─── 09:00 Tue, 21 Oct 2025
An afternoon of Tchaikovsky, Marquina, Barber, Zimmer, and Bublé promises to showcase the talents of the young musicians involved with the Free State Symphony Orchestra on 2 November at the Odeion Auditorium in Bloemfontein.
Conductor Dingaan Chabalala and two violinists, Lehlohonolo Sefuli and Thabiso Majoe, join Yolanda Maartens in the OFM Art Beat to talk about the programme and to share their excitement.
The concert is free, and the public is warmly invited to support the young performers on 2 November at 15:00.

Soaring Youth is an exhilarating celebration of energy, passion, and artistry. The concert showcases the incredible talent and dedication of the province’s young musicians as they take audiences on a journey of emotion, beauty, and triumph.
The programme features powerful and moving works such as Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Marquina’s “España Cañí”, alongside modern and cinematic favourites including “Now We Are Free”, “Feeling Good”, “Gonna Fly Now”, and “Time to Say Goodbye.”
The concert captures the heart and spirit of young musicians ready to take flight. It marks a fitting finale to a year of growth, collaboration, and musical achievement.
