The NWU Gallery is proud to present Metanoia, a thought-provoking project curated by history of arts honours students of the North-West University from 12 August to 11 September 2026. 

The exhibition draws on the NWU’s permanent art collection to explore the human experience through more than 20 artworks, including paintings, sculptures and mixed-media pieces.

Inspired by the idea of transformation and renewal, Metanoia encourages visitors to step away from the distractions of everyday life and reconnect with themselves and others. The exhibition unfolds through three themed spaces – Body, Soul and Spirit – each offering a unique perspective on what it means to be human, from our physical experiences and individual identities to moments of reflection, peace and spiritual connection.

In this episode of OFM Art Beat, Yolanda Maartens speaks to Nobuhle Xaba, one of the exhibition’s curators, about the inspiration behind Metanoia, the collaborative curatorial process, and how art has the power to transform hearts, perspectives and the way people experience the world.

The exhibition opened on 12 August at 18:00, and members of the public are warmly invited to attend and experience this unique celebration of art and human connection.
