William Humphreys Art Gallery in Kimberley hosts upcoming talent in creative duo exhibition | News Article

The William Humphreys Art Gallery (WHAG) in Kimberley is presenting a duo exhibition featuring two emerging South African artists who explore identity and the human experience.

WHAG’s 2026 Duo Exhibition will feature Tears of a Man by Neo Theku and HUE(man) Imprints – At Your Fingertips by Genevieve Clarke.

Being part of WHAG’s Youth Month Development Programme, the exhibition provides both artists with an opportunity to present their work following their participation in the gallery’s Artist-in-Residence Programme.

Through photography, Theku explores themes of masculinity, vulnerability, emotional expression, and healing. His work invites viewers to consider the emotions and struggles that are often hidden beneath the surface.

Clarke takes a different approach through acrylic painting. Using hundreds of fingerprint-like marks, she creates a portrait of South African contemporary artist Lady Skollie, exploring identity, individuality, memory, and the experiences that leave lasting impressions on us.

Although their artistic mediums and approaches differ, both artists explore the idea of the imprints we carry – physically, emotionally, and through our experiences and relationships.

In this episode of OFM Art Beat, Yolanda Maartens speaks to both Neo Theku and Genevieve Clarke about their work, their inspiration and the messages they hope visitors will take away from the exhibition.

Tears of a Man and HUE(man) Imprints – At Your Fingertips are on display at the William Humphreys Art Gallery until 31 August 2026. cvs
