Classical guitar enthusiasts can look forward to a special first visit to Bloemfontein when Dillon Davie, Ryan Kirsten, Jonathan Moolman and Nathalie Roué take to the stage in the Odeion.

Together, they combine extensive experience, musical expertise and a passion for the distinctive sound created by four classical guitars performing as one ensemble.

While guitar quartets are an established favourite among concert audiences internationally, the Gauteng Guitar Quartet is South Africa’s only professional performing guitar quartet of its kind.

Their programme brings together the old and the new, featuring music that reaches back to J.S. Bach, alongside brand-new works written for a guitar quartet and fresh arrangements and reinterpretations of familiar music. The programme also includes works by Leo Brouwer, Johann Pachelbel and contemporary South African composer Neo Muyanga.

Each of the four musicians brings a wealth of experience to the ensemble. Dillon Davie is a Johannesburg-based musician and music educator, while Ryan Kirsten, Jonathan Moolman and Nathalie Roué have each built impressive careers through extensive musical training and performance experience both locally and internationally.

Dillon Davie joins Yolanda Maartens on the OFM Art Beat to share more about the Gauteng Guitar Quartet, their distinctive sound and what audiences can expect from their first performance in Bloemfontein.
