How to apply the use of AI tools in your company─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 18:56 Thu, 09 Feb 2023

Are your company's values and policies taking into account how artificial intelligence (AI) creation tools are used in the workplace?
Business thought leader, strategist, author and founder of At that Point, Juanita Vorster, believes that businesses need to have dialogues about these tools and start developing an agreed-upon organisational strategy for using them.
When asked about plagiarism concerns associated with the usage of AI tools such as ChatGPT in academia and various professional disciplines like copywriting and law, Vorster says, "when people rely on AI unfiltered, it becomes a problem", making it prudent that business leaders take into account the use of AI creation tools in internal policies and company values so that there is a single organisational approach to them.
Most importantly, this is to ensure that your company's values can withstand the temptation of plagiarism and copyright infringements.
"Laws and policies can't cover all the grey areas that will be exposed as trends rise and fall. You've got to have clear, simple, meaningful values that can be used by everyone in the business to navigate grey areas," says the business strategist on LinkedIn.

In her sit-down with the OFM Business Hour on AI creation tools and their rise to the mainstream as a result of ChatGPT, Vorster says organisations need to view AI creation tools as an "add-on" rather than an either/or choice. She encourages employers to let employees play around with these tools and not be resistant to change.
"You cannot control nor prohibit the future, but you can focus on how technology can assist you in carrying out your work efficiently and effectively says Vorster. It therefore becomes a matter of carving out a template as to how your particular organisation wants to approach the usage of technology in day-to-day business activities.
