#BloemCeltic’s stadium shuts down for renovations | News Article

The Dr Petrus Rantlai Molemela Stadium, which hosts the PSL side Bloemfontein Celtics, has been shut down for renovations according to a media statement released on social media today by the club.

This is after the PSL visiting teams and officials complained about the bad conditions at the stadium.

OFM News’ journalists visited the stadium on Tuesday 14 January 2020, to assess the extent of repairs to be done. On arrival, they saw that the grandstand seats were dislodged while some were missing. They saw leaking pipes and the pitch was not up to standard.

OFM News tried contacting the spokesperson of the club but he was not available.

Meanwhile, the Free State Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture said they were not aware of the decision to shut down the stadium. According to Celtic’s statement, the remaining home games will be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth until the renovations are done. This is a developing story.
