Free State residents to face water-shedding due to electrical fault─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:21 Sat, 22 Oct 2022

Residents of Viljoenskroon and Rammulotsi have been told to brace themselves for a water interruption.
According to the Kroonstad-based Moqhaka Local Municipality, the water interruption is due to an electrical fault at the water treatment plant.
The municipality's spokesperson, Dika Kheswa, says Eskom is on site trying to fix the problem. Kheswa says the water supply is expected to be restored as soon as the electrical fault has been fixed.
The municipality has since apologised for the inconvenience.
Free State residents across different towns and cities have recently had to deal with constant water supply interruptions due to either burst pipes or maintenance of infrastructure.

This week the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro Municipality informed residents and businesses in the Bloemfontein CBD of water supply interruptions (19 October 2022). This was to enable technicians to repair a burst pipe along St. Andrews Street.
According to the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, the metro is losing about 46% of its water that could have been supplied to residents.
During the Presidential Imbizo this year held in Bloemfontein, Mchunu said this is due to water pipe leakages and water pipes have been neglected for years and not maintained or repaired.
He also announced that at least two projects worth at least R500 million were in the pipeline to supply water to Mangaung residents who are often irate about the re-occurring water supply cuts.
