Arrests in Free State kidnapping cases offer hope─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:34 Sat, 06 Jan 2024

Free State's premier has commended the police on their swift and decisive arrest of two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old Machaka Radebe from Bloemfontein.
Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana has called on the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the police. This plea follows the arrest of suspects linked to the recent kidnappings and murders of women and children in Bloemfontein.
OFM News previously reported that two suspects, aged 28 and 48, were arrested on 28 December after being linked to the kidnapping and murder of Bloemfontein girl Machaka Radebe (16), whose body was found in Phase 9 by a passerby. The two appeared in Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (2/1) when their case was postponed to Monday (8/1) for a formal bail hearing.
On Thursday (4/1), police also arrested two suspects linked to the kidnapping of Bloemfontein woman Sibongile Sophie Ngwana (37). Unidentified remains were later found near the M10 during the investigation.
‘The provincial government will continue monitor the legal proceedings’
The premier’s media liaison, Palesa Chubisi, said the provincial government welcomes the swift response and arrest of suspects linked to these recent abductions.
“The Free State provincial government would like to commend the SAPS on their swift and decisive arrest of two suspects in connection with the tragic kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old Machaka Radebe from Bloemfontein,” she said.
Chubisi added that the provincial government will continue monitor the legal proceedings and remains committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families.
