Public bemoans poor service delivery at Phuthaditjhaba’s Home Affairs─── 13:09 Tue, 20 Feb 2024

“This is beyond our power since we depend on the Seta which is based in Welkom. If that side has load-shedding, we also struggle to perform our duties properly on this side.”
After many complaints about poor service delivery at the Department of Home Affairs’ branch in Phuthaditjhaba, at Qwaqwa in the Free State, the manager revealed what could have been the challenges.
“Service delivery has always been prioritised. However, we had a serious challenge with the water supply due to the poor or old pipe network. It was unable to transport water to our site,“ Tshweu Majoro, the branch manager, said.

This follows many complaints from the public, who claim employees knock off at 11:00 daily. They also point fingers at the employees by saying, they drag their feet when it comes to rendering services. Again, they accuse the officials of always claiming the system is offline.
Majoro further told OFM News that, indeed, their systems lose connection unexpectedly at any time of the day. “This is beyond our power since we depend on the Seta which is based in Welkom. If that side has load-shedding, we also struggle to perform our duties properly on this side,” he added.
Clients must be patient and cooperate with the officials
Furthermore, Majoro urged applicants to come in their numbers and collect their smart cards, which are taking up space all over the department's offices. He says the doors are open for anyone who wants to come and collect their identity cards.
He concluded by requesting the clients to be patient and cooperate with the officials.
