A 14-year-old is preparing to take the stage as a finalist in the World Imperial Beauties South Africa Pageant.
Bloemfontein teen Ayola Blom will represent the Free State at the national level of the competition in Johannesburg in September. Since being selected as a finalist, Blom has focused on her preparations.
The experience has helped her develop a stronger sense of self. “Through this journey, I have grown in confidence and self-belief; I believe one can achieve more than you can ever imagine when you stay focused and positive,” said Blom.
The young finalist explained her enjoyment of the various aspects of the pageant process, including the fashion elements, the preparation sessions, and the opportunity to meet new people. These experiences contribute to her goal of being a caring representative for her province.
Blom noted representing the Free State means carrying the world's strength and a beautiful spirit.
Balancing ambition, education
Despite the demands of the competition, the finalist remains committed to her studies, emphasising the importance of maintaining a balance between her pageant goals and her school work.

When first learning of her selection, she described feeling a mix of pride and motivation, a drive that has fueled her hard work as the national competition nears.
“Believe in yourself, trust God, work hard, and never let fear chase you away from your dreams,” said Blom.
Inspiring the youth
She hopes her participation in the pageant will serve as an example for other young girls, expressing a desire for her peers to see their own goals as valid and attainable. “I’m excited to step onto the stage of world imperial South Africa.”

As she prepares for Johannesburg, the Free State representative expressed gratitude toward her family, her mentors, and the community members who have supported her. If successful at the national level, she will move on to represent the country on the international stage.
