Namibia set to host Proteas in historic T20 International─── MORGAN PIEK 13:00 Tue, 27 May 2025

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the Proteas men’s team will take on Namibia later this year in a landmark T20 International in Windhoek.
This highly anticipated encounter will mark two significant firsts: it will be the first-ever international match between the two senior national sides, and the first time South Africa plays in the Namibian capital.
It will be a once-off match, and can been seen as the start of the journey to the 2027 ICC Men’ Cricket World Cup which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
The fixture will also serve as the official opening of the newly developed Namibia Cricket Ground.

The ground is set to play a key role in global cricket as one of the host venues for both the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2026 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027.
CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki expressed pride at being part of the occasion, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration in growing the sport. “We are honoured to be part of this historic event. Namibia is a competitive side, and this fixture is a testament to the increasing strength and unity of cricket on the African continent.

The historic clash between the Eagles and the Proteas is scheduled to take place on 11 October 2025 in Windhoek, and is expected to draw significant attention from fans and stakeholders across the cricketing world.
