For 106 years, the kitchen at Wyndford has been at the heart of this farm outside Fouriesburg - feeding families, welcoming guests, and creating memories around the table.

Now, for the first time, that same kitchen is opening its doors to the wider region.

Pulane Nel-Sekepe spoke to Jandré Du Plessis about the new developments:

This past Father’s Day marked a special moment as the Wyndford Restaurant welcomed outside diners for the very first time. The room was filled with laughter, conversation and the kind of moments that remind us why sharing a meal matters.

But behind that unforgettable Sunday lunch was a year of careful preparation. From securing a liquor licence and introducing a modern booking system, to training a team who know the farm and can share its story - every detail has been thoughtfully put in place to create an experience that is more than just a meal.

And what a meal it was.

Guests enjoyed a menu inspired by the season and the Free State landscape, including leg of lamb sourced from a neighbouring farmer, served with fondant potatoes and creamed spinach, crispy eisbein, beef prime rib roast, and a traditional rooibos malva pudding with warm custard to finish.

All enjoyed against the backdrop of the sandstone beauty of the Highlands.

At Wyndford, the focus has always been on doing things with care. Their new service counter is a perfect example - handcrafted by their own maintenance and building team using locally inspired materials, combining a live-edge wooden top, sandstone base and a fully equipped beverage station.

Because wherever possible, Wyndford believes in keeping the skills, the work and the value right here on the farm.

And there is even more to look forward to. Coming in August, the new Wine Cellar will open — a space created to store, serve and celebrate good wine with visitors from near and far.

The Wyndford Restaurant is now open to outside diners from Thursday to Sunday.

Whether you’re joining them for a meal, booking a weekend stay, exploring the trails, or simply ending your day with something cold to drink while taking in the views, the door is open.
