North Korea fires missile─── 06:44 Thu, 17 Nov 2022
North Korea fired a ballistic missile on Thursday morning.
According to Reuters, North Korea stated that Washington is making a "gamble it would regret" by increasing its security presence in the area alongside its partners and warned of "fiercer military retaliation".
The ballistic missile was fired at 10:48, according to the South Korean military, from the city of Wonsan on the North's east coast.
It was the most recent in a record-breaking number of tests this year. More recently, North Korea also launched hundreds of artillery shells into the sea while South Korea and the US conducted drills, some of which included Japan.
Less than two hours prior to the launch, Choe Son Hui, North Korea's foreign minister, attacked a recent trilateral meeting between the United States, South Korea, and Japan, during which the leaders condemned Pyongyang's nuclear tests and committed to enhance security cooperation.
US President Joe Biden underlined his commitment to bolster extended deterrence and defend the US's two Asian partners during the meetings.
