William Humphreys Art Gallery best financially performing entity in NC─── 09:11 Mon, 05 Nov 2012
Kimberley - The William Humphreys Art Gallery (Whag) in Kimberley has been named the best financially performing entity in the Northern Cape, Business Day reported on Monday.
Last month the provincial office of the Auditor-General gave the gallery an award for "best entity".
Whag governing council chairman David Robbins said the award was a significant achievement.
"The gallery has had unqualified audits each year since 2001," he told the newspaper.
"The award highlights the efforts of the small staff involved in running a gallery which now houses one of the finest South African art collections in the country."
The gallery held 21 exhibitions over the last two years, and hosted a special programme for women at the Kimberley correctional centre.
