Bloemfontein - The Bloemfontein Zoo is now part of a programme to breed the rare white lion.
Three white lions have arrived at the zoo. The two females and one male will form part of the zoo's special breeding programme to ensure the survival of the rare colour strain.
Mangaung municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama says the city has brought in the strategy of growing the Zoo and making sure it is marketed to schools, ordinary people and even outsiders.
“Very soon we are going to be opening up a big Zoo where our animals will be able to graze free and in a more habitable space.”
