Bloemfontein - A 48-year old rape accused man has been arrested in Bloemspruit in connection with the murder of his daughter, seven years ago.
Free State police spokesperson Joy Xaba said the man had been sought by police for over two weeks after the body of seven-year old Zikhona Mpedi was discovered.
On March 13th 2014 Mpedi’s body was found buried in a toilet pit at a house in Bergman Square after the victim's sister reported the matter to police.

Mpedi died in 2007 after her father allegedly hit her and she failed to regain consciousness.
Xaba says the victim's elder sister had been suspicious of her father but was allegedly threatened with death if she reported the matter.
The suspect is meanwhile also wanted in connection with a rape that occurred in the Mangaung area.

He was due to appear in court on March 17th on that charge but failed to do so.
Xaba could not say when he would appear on the rape charge.
