Condelences continue to pour in for Korkie─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:39 Sun, 07 Dec 2014

Bloemfontein - Condolences continue to pour in for Pierre Korkie, who was killed in Yemen during a failed US operation to rescue fellow Al Qaeda captive Luke Somers.
US president Barack Obama sent his condolences to the Korkie family as well as those of Somers. Athlete Zola Budd, who Korkie previously coached, was devastated, her manager Ray de Vries said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Budd participated in the Comrades Marathon and dedicated her run to Korkie and appealed for his release.
Farmer and preacher, Angus Buchan, was deeply shocked after receiving news of Korkie’s death.
He says that during a prayer service, which was held for rain in Bloemfontein earlier this year, he prayed for Pierre return to home safely. Yolandé and their teenage children also attended that service. Buchan added that Pierre is “home” now.
Buchan says Korkie has been an incredible inspiration to South Africans.
