Harrismith farm attack: Victim was member of FS Agriculture─── 09:07 Mon, 05 Oct 2015

Harrismith - Free State Agriculture (FSA) has condemned the attack on one of its members on a farm near Harrismith yesterday afternoon.
CEO, Henk Vermeulen, says in the light of the cruelty of the attack, the organisation would like to respect the widow's privacy and not release her name.
Vermeulen says management members representing the organisation are expected to visit the woman, who stayed alone in her house, in hospital today.
Police earlier told OFM News that a 58-year-old woman was overpowered by two robbers when she arrived back at the farm after a meeting in Bethlehem. They demanded money. The unknown men forced the woman into her house and tied her hands behind her back. She was stabbed several times below the knee and in the right shoulder and also sustained burn wounds after her attackers burned her with a hot iron. According to the police she was also forced into a bedroom in the house and raped.
Vermeulen says the attack is barbaric and outrageous and the suspects must be caught and account for their actions.
Police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, says no arrests have been made yet. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones in the victim’s white Mahindra bakkie. He appeals to anyone with information to call their nearest police station.
