Judgment in Parys murder trial delivered on Thursday─── DANE BEISHEIM 13:06 Tue, 02 Feb 2016

Parys - Judgment in the case against four men from Parys accused of murdering Craig Marx in 2014 has been reserved for this Thursday.
Koenraad van Aswegen Sr, his sons Koenraad Jr and Nickolai, as well as their friend David Kuyler, are additionally charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances and defeating the ends of justice.
Final arguments were delivered today. Adv. Danie Pretorius for the state rejected JR’s claim that Marx’s death by suffocation was an accident, stating that “even the most dull-witted person could foresee that cutting off someone’s air supply could be fatal”.
A fifth accused, André Kruger, earlier turned state witness and testified against the men. OFM News’ Dane Beisheim reports that the state praised Kruger for his testimony.
Kruger for example refuted the existence of two additional accomplices, as alleged by the Van Aswegens. He also testified that the attack on Marx was planned beforehand.
Kuyler’s bail was extended, whilst Nickolai was released in the care of his mother and warned to be at court come Thursday.
His father and brother remain in custody.
