According to police spokesperson, Malebo Khosana, the victim, who cannot be named, is still at the Katleho hospital in Virginia. No information on the nature of his injuries has been provided and although a docket for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm was opened, Khosana says that no arrests have been made thus far.

The alleged attack happened on December 30 at a circumcision school in Masilo, Theunissen. It was reported in a statement by the Police that following the incident, police and health officials were called to the scene where they found that the victim was assaulted by his teachers and was then rushed to hospital. The initiation school has been closed and all facilities at the school have been dismantled following this attack.

This incident follows another incident in Rosendal on 20 December 2016 where three initiation school teachers were arrested for the assault of Sabata Tladi, an initiate who was admitted at Senekal hospital following his alleged assault. 

It is alleged that the teachers assaulted Tladi (36) thirteen days earlier with sticks and dragged him around the farm with a horse.
