One dead, five injured on notorious N8 between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo─── MARK STEENBOK 16:46 Wed, 04 Oct 2017
One person died and several others were injured after two vehicles collided on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo on Wednesday.
Netcare 911 spokesperson, Nick Dollman, says when paramedics arrived on the scene they had to attend to six people, with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
He says a 33-year old man sustained serious injuries, and jaws of life had to be used to free him. Dollman adds a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was later airlifted, by helicopter, to a local hospital for urgent medical care.
He says the cause of the accident will form part of a police investigation.
“The road was partially closed while emergency services were at the scene. Paramedics had to administer analgesic medication to the person who was trapped inside the vehicle. Three other patients were transported by ambulance from the scene. Tragically the sixth person, a female, had sustained severe injuries and died at the scene,” says Dollman.
