Opposition Parties allegedly attacked in Groot Marico─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 17:10 Wed, 04 Oct 2017
The Democratic Alliance alleges the attack on opposition parties at the unveiling of the Jacob Zuma Capture Site at Groot Marico, was ordered by the North West Premier.
Leader of the DA in the North West, Joe McGluwa, alleges that the North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo instructed police to disperse members of opposition parties using a water cannon and rubber bullets.
“Instead, while we entered the premises we were greeted with stun grenades, a water cannon and also rubber bullets, some of our activists were actually caught in the fire” McGluwa added.
Supra Mahumapelo’s spokesperson, Brian Setswambung, denied the allegations, calling the event, a resounding success.
“The fact that people were dispersed, has nothing to do with the Premier. It has everything to do with law enforcement” Setswambung added.
