NW police call on 'injured' DA members to open cases | News Article

The police in the North West urges DA members who were allegedly injured at Groot Marico to open cases.

Police spokesperson in the province Amanda Funani, was commenting on allegations made by leader of the DA in the North West, Joe McGluwa, that police used rubber bullets, stun grenades and a water cannon to disperse protesting opposition parties.

Funani confirmed that a water cannon was used to disperse disruptive EFF members, but denies police used rubber bullets or stun grenades.

“No one was injured and no case was opened. It was a peaceful event. The DA member claiming to have been assaulted by police is free to open a case at the Groot Marico police station.”
