The ANC NEC takes note of the Free State ANC members’ concerns over the provincial interim structure and the premiership position. This, after a group of disgruntled Free State ANC members picketed in front of Luthuli House in Johannesburg today.

These members demand, among other things, that the structure which is supposed to lead the province to an elective conference later this month be reconstituted. ANC Acting National Communication Manager, Donovan Cloete, told OFM News the Free State ANC members’ concerns are soon going to be processed by the NEC and will be engaged in a way forward.

Cloete could, however, not give an indication as to when this will take place. He said no timeframe is set yet.

The gathering in front of Luthuli House comes just days after they picketed in front of the Free State ANC headquarters in Bloemfontein, to express their unhappiness with the same interim structure.

Before heading to Luthuli House this morning, Free State ANC member, Sello Dithebe, told OFM News that they are greatly concerned about the state of the organisation in the province and are unhappy about the composition of the interim structure as elected by the Secretary General Ace Magashule’s office and the NEC.

He said the majority of members included in the interim structure are those who are being seen as supporting ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, and at this stage still favour the former provincial executive, which was disbanded by the Free State High Court late last year.

The Free State High Court ruled that 14 branches must be rerun before the provincial congress can take place.
