PHOTO GALLERY: Lack of water, electricity 'now our way of life' - Brandfort resident─── 15:45 Mon, 09 Apr 2018

Residents outside the Brandfort community hall where the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s memorial lecture is being held this afternoon, say they have not had water for the past two weeks.
As heavy rain is pouring, close to 50 residents are lining up, holding their water buckets, hoping to fill these and receive their water portion of the day.
“We’ve had this problem for the past two weeks and there’s been no communication from the municipality as to why we don’t have water," says an anonymous resident.
The unnamed woman also stated that on occasion there have also been electricity cuts in the Majwemasweu township and being without water or electricity has become somewhat a way of life for these residents.
The Masilonyana Local Municipality could not be reached for comment on water issues faced by the municipality.
The Department of Water and Sanitation's spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau, could also not be reached for comment regarding the matter.
OFM News' Katleho Morapela report while a number of residents are weathering rainy, cold temperatures to fill up their water buckets, others are making their way to the hall.
