The North West Home Affairs Department has responded to bashing allegations that it does not care about clients standing in long, tiring queues.

Earlier, social media users took to Facebook and Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with reported long queues at Klerksdorp Home Affairs, labelling them as inhumane.

This comes after the Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba, declared war on the long queues at offices countrywide.

Departmental spokesperson, Thabo Mokgola, told OFM News Gigaba has acknowledged that there is no quick fix and blamed under-funding as the cause of the long queues. Thabo said there is a monitoring tool has been developed to combat tiring queues.

“What Minister Gigaba did when launching the war-on-queue campaign, was to give an instruction to the director general of the department and senior management to develop a plan that gives details on how the department plans to deal with the challenges of the long queues,” says Mokgolo.

“A monitoring tool has been developed to measure the average waiting time from the time a client receives a ticket from Home Affairs,” adds Mokgolo.
