Acting premier vows to promote Batho Pele principles─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:03 Tue, 18 Sep 2018
Free State Acting Premier, Sam Mashinini, commits to work with the Office of the provincial Public Service Commission (PSC) to enable them to promote constitutionally enshrined principles and values at the public service.
This commitment came after the provincial commissioner, Henk Boshoff, today raised concerns over the number of public servants in the province who fail to adhere to the principles of Batho Pele.
Launching the commission's constitutional values and principles in the Provincial Legislature, Boshoff told the House that there is a growing concern over the state of service delivery and ill-treatment by public servants in the different departments and public entities.
Mashinini has in response vowed to the House that the provincial government will heed to concerns raised by the PSC. He further appealed to all public servants to uphold work ethics and keep in mind that they are in office to respond to the needs of the people they are meant to serve.
Despite the growing concerns over the state of the healthcare system and education in the province, Boshoff told the House that there has been room for improvement in terms of the use of state resources.
He specifically expressed a sense of gratitude to how the misuse of state vehicles and police vans is being dealt with by the Department of Roads, Police and Transport.
