IEC geared for FS municipal by-elections─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:33 Tue, 20 Nov 2018
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Free State says it’s all systems go for the municipal by-election set to take place in Moqhaka Local Municipality tomorrow.
The by-election to be held in Kroonstad (ward 3) is expected to be hotly contested by members from four political parties. The ward, previously ran by the DA, became vacant after the death of Councillor Taeli Morabe, who won it with over 62% during the last municipal elections. The electorate’s Mankae Ncheche says more than 3600 voters are expected to cast their votes and that voting will take place from 7am to 9pm.
The electorate has further revealed that so far all went well with the special votes today. Voting stations will close at 21:00 and a total of 131 special voters are expected to cast their votes today.
Voorwaarts Primary School, Hoër Landbouskool, Afrikaanse Hoërskool, and the tent at Ben Mervis Street are voting stations where registered residents can cast their votes.
