Germiston - Two people killed in a helicopter crash on Thursday were a man and woman, and not two men as originally thought, paramedics said.
"After the bodies were pulled from the helicopter, it was discovered they were of a man and woman," Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said.
Earlier on Thursday, MiX Telematics Africa said the helicopter, which crashed near Rand Airport on the East Rand, was a Matrix vehicle tracking helicopter.
"MiX Telematics are aware of the incident that took place this afternoon where we confirm that it was a Matrix vehicle tracking helicopter, operated by Henley Air, which has crashed," said managing director Brendan Horan.
MiX Telematics and the civil aviation authority were investigating the accident, he said.
